Bobbi is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Certified Addictions and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC). Bobbi completed her Master’s in Counseling degree from National Louis University and her addictions specialization training at College of DuPage. Prior to private practice, Bobbi had extensive experience working as a level 2 Clinical Therapist at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health Hospital. She worked in an intensive outpatient program for adults struggling with both mental health and addictions where she did individual and group therapy.
Bobbi knows that life can get overwhelming for even the strongest of people, and that reaching out to a therapist takes courage. “Nobody seeks counseling when life is great. Professional support and guidance can make all the difference during life’s most challenging times. As your therapist I will provide safe, comfortable, confidential counseling sessions where together we can address your concerns and explore your options. I will work with you to realize your strengths, develop new insights, build new skills and begin making changes that work for you. When appropriate, we will explore aspects of your past that may contribute to dysfunctional patterns or beliefs in your life today, and learn strategies to let go of these past limitations. During our sessions I may challenge you to consider a new perspective or insight, or encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. The pace and direction of each session is based on what is most comfortable for you.”
Bobbi has worked with a wide range of issues including: depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, survivors of sexual assault, anger issues, family conflict, life transitions, sexual identity struggles, self-injury, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and complex trauma including adults who grew up in dysfunctional families and/or survivors of childhood abuse. Additionally, she is passionate about working with individuals affected by addiction.
“I know the toll addiction takes on a person as well as on those they love, and that it often leads to feeling hopeless and alone. Whether you are struggling to overcome addiction yourself, or you are affected by someone else’s addiction, you don’t have to take that journey alone. As your counselor, I will provide support, skills, resources, and direction to guide you along the way.” Addiction treatment programs strongly recommend following-up with an individual therapist after treatment for continuing care.
Bobbi has a friendly, warm and encouraging nature. Her genuine, down-to-earth style incorporates humor with compassion and a straight-forward approach. She strives to connect with each client by taking the time to truly listen and understand you and your therapy goals. Bobbi uses evidence-based treatment models including CBT, DBT, ACT, and solution-focused therapies in her counseling sessions to best fit the goals of each individual client.
Bobbi believes that within each person is an innate power to change and overcome life’s struggles, and that helping to access that internal resource is a fundamental part of counseling. She also believes that good things come from even the most difficult times in life in the form of personal growth and strength; and that later individuals can use these experiences in ways that bring both purpose and meaning to their lives.
