I believe counseling can be very beneficial for children, their families and adults. I believe it takes great personal strength and courage to seek help and support for yourself and your family when facing adversity. My clinical focus is working with families and children. I especially like working with children, helping them develop and better cope with their emotions. Teaching children expected behaviors and how to manage various uncomfortable feelings is crucial to their future success. As a mom of two children, I know parenting is very demanding. As much as we hope to always do the “right” thing, it can be very challenging. I enjoy working with parents on how to set up ways they can support their child at home and/or at school. I also love working with adults, helping them through everyday life stressors, offering support through major life changes, and assisting them to overcome anxiety and depression.
My goal for treatment is to provide a professional and comfortable environment. Creating a trusting relationship is key. I also know that it helps the therapeutic process if your child enjoys coming to counseling. I try to make sessions fun and engaging, while utilizing proven therapy techniques. My approach will always begin with your needs, while using evidenced based therapies, including cognitive behavioral and solution focused treatment approaches, to help you reach your treatment goals.
In my free time I love spending time with my family. I enjoy walks outside, taking my children to the zoo, museums, and nature centers. I would be very honored to work with you, your child and/or family.
