Victoria Villagomez, Intern
Vicky is currently in the final year of her Master of Social Work program at Dominican University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Xavier University. With more than 11 years of experience working in an inpatient behavioral health setting, she has supported individuals across the lifespan, from adolescents through older adulthood.
Throughout her career, Vicky has worked with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, self-harm, bipolar disorder, substance use, personality disorders, self-esteem concerns, psychosis, and a variety of other mental health challenges. She especially enjoys facilitating groups and values the opportunity to help clients feel heard, supported, and empowered as they work toward meaningful change.
Vicky’s approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based. She incorporates evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while tailoring treatment to each client’s individual needs, experiences, and goals. She believes therapy should be a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and where their existing strengths can serve as a foundation for growth.
“Growing up in a Mexican-American family with a father who immigrated from Mexico has also shaped my appreciation for the important role that culture, family, identity, and lived experience can play in a person’s mental health and healing journey. I strive to provide a welcoming and respectful environment for clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.”
Vicky enjoys working with adolescents, adults, and older adults who are facing a wide range of mental health concerns, life transitions, and personal challenges. She looks forward to building genuine therapeutic relationships and helping clients develop greater confidence, resilience, and insight along the way.
Outside of work, Vicky enjoys watching shows with her husband, finding a great cup of coffee, listening to podcasts, having craft nights with friends, and spending time with her six nieces and nephews.
